Career Testimonial - Chris Byfield

Fifteen years ago VoTech graduate Chris Byfield moved to Tulsa for a good paying job. On his off days from the place he described as a “dungeon to work in” he drove around making a list of the companies that had nice cars in the lot. He figured those companies treated their workers well and paid well because the employees drove nice cars. One weekend he saw a job advertised at Harsco Industrial Air-X-Changers and, sure enough, they were on his list. He came in and took the welding test to earn his position.

Fifteen years later, Chris is the Lead in Harsco Industrial Air-X-Changers’ Header Department, drives a nice car and enjoys encouraging his team of workers to learn and grow in their knowledge and capabilities. “If you keep doing things the same way you will get the same results. There is always a better way to get a job done. I enjoy learning from the team’s experience how to make our area safer, more efficient, and flexible to manage the work in process.”

Chris views these efficiencies as part of his contribution to Harsco Industrial Air-X-Changers’ operating margin improvements and to fielding the company's “A Team.” Fiercely patriotic, he is determined to make America a welcome place for those skilled employees that still enjoy working with their hands.
